Hello and welcome to my blog!

I'm Candice Held, a fashion and textile designer living and working in Palm Springs, California. I design silk scarves, dresses, resort wear, swimwear, men's clothing, jewelry, wallpaper, and home décor fabrics- all featuring my original artwork and textile prints.

I operate a brick-and-mortar boutique here in the desert, in the Uptown Design District in Palm Springs. This is my third boutique here in the Coachella Valley. My first two desert shops were located in The Shops at 1345 and The Shops on El Paseo in Palm Desert. Prior to relocating to Palm Springs, I owned shops in downtown Los Angeles on Spring Street, and on Melrose & Crescent Heights near Fred Segal. Each location had its own unique look.

For my Uptown Design District shop, I wanted to create a magical world of pattern and color to showcase my collections. I designed the interior with my "Parrots and Proteas" wallpaper in the Ming Vase colorway. I partnered with Armstrong Flooring to design a site specific coordinating graphic flooring pattern using their luxury vinyl tile (LVT). The jewelry cabinet, bar top, and low table are sections of a vintage Steve Chase bedroom set converted into retail displays. Vintage furniture is upholstered with my Tiger print in velvet, including a Charles Hollis Jones brass footed bench. The fitting room is outfitted in Desert Glam style with my Palms wallpaper and lighted mirrors. Converted vintage cigar cases display luxury vintage eyewear. I made the giant gold sequins from gold foil cardboard cake rounds. (I'll share that process here in a future post!)

The boutique is filled with my original clothing and accessories designs, vintage jewelry, layering pieces from Only Hearts NYC and Commando, gift items such as my signature fragranced candle 'Poolside Breeze," and my specially curated selection of vintage designer sunglasses from luxury designers inlcuding Ted Lapidus, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, and Emmanuelle Khanh.
